Chemo Protocol

This week Holli met with Dr. Ackman, the oncologist at WFU. Her cancer is considered stage 2A due to the two nodes being positive. She had one more drain pulled so one left to go!

She will have her port-a-cath placed April 27th and will start chemotherapy that day. Her chemo will be every other week for 4 doses and then weekly for 12 more doses.

  2. I met a lady today while I was in line waiting for something. I commented that I really liked her hair and she shared with me that it was in a short bob because she is a breast cancer survivor. She is 33 and found her cancer when she was 31. She has 2 small kids. She had stage 3, but was praising God for allowing her to find it when she did.

I told her I had a friend whose sister had just been diagnosed. She said the worse part was losing her hair. But then, the most unexpected was that her eyelashes didn't fall out until her last chemo treatment! She said she didn't know until then that the hair follicles are different in the eyelashes, so just when she felt this was all over and she was done, she experienced this new change. I know you've had friends who have gone through this, so maybe you already knew that, but I thought I'd share it so it might not catch you off guard like it did her.

We have been praying for you. I've been communicating with Alyssa and she just sent me the pictures of your new hair cut. Being a 38 yr old mom of three myself I can just imagine that the coming months of anticpation and the unknown are, at times, frightening.

As I wrapped up the conversation with this total stranger she just smiled and said, "God is good!" and I said, "All the time!" She grinned back and said, "All the time!" and I replied, "God IS GOOD!"

    He is isn't He!
